THE WINE
The fresh perfumed aromatics are of dark purple fruits layered with smokey wooded spices. A palate of red currant and wild raspberry are enhanced by a firm tannin structure. Lees work has provided a rounded mid palate, elegant and without peaks, while bright acidity completes the wine. A lovely balanced and medium weighted wine.
THE VINTAGE
The rainfall through the 2021 Winter and Spring set-up ideal soil moisture levels for vintage 2022. After a cool and wet early Spring, conditions warmed and dried as Summer progressed. January was sunny and occasionally hot. Both February and March were very favourable and ultimately a near perfect season culminated in ripe grapes ideally suited for premium Yarra Valley wines.
VITICULTURE + WINEMAKING
Harvested from a combination of our ‘G’ Block north facing hillside block (64%), and ‘C’ block from our lower vineyard (36%), the MV6 clone Pinot Noir is fermented in separate batches using open top fermenters. Utilization of cold soak techniques and approximately 10% whole bunch in the fermentation promotes complexity.  Maturation after pressing was on light lees in a combination of aged French puncheons for a period of 9 months.
FOOD MATCH
Slow roasted lamb, torn basil, cherry tomatoes, Mt Zero olives and Yarra Valley marinated fetta.
