96 pts “Mataro sourced from 100-year-old, dry-grown bush vines in Light Pass. Dark plum, mulberry and macerated berry fruit are cut with notes of exotic spice, hanging meats, licorice, earth and light purple floral tones. There is a lovely fruit density and texture here, pure yet savoury edged with tight, sandy tannin support and a spicy red and dark-fruited finish. Proof that mataro is capable of greatness.” Dave Brookes Halliday Wine Companion April 2023
95 pts “Dense ruby with bright purple tints at the rim. Ripe black fruits, chocolate and smoky meat aromatics. Full bodied with ripe black and blue fruits that are well matched to some charry meat and oak spices. Great length and very well framed by fine-grained tannins. A lot to enjoy here and will be even better with food.” Stuart Knox The Real Review February 2023
94 points “From a 100 -year-old vineyard in the Light Pass parish of the Barossa Valley. Chunky but refreshing expression of mataro. Dark cherry, lavender, bay leaf and paprika scents and flavours. Soft texture that grows into a long trail of woody spices with some requisite chew from sandy tannin. It’s a big mouthful but there’s a nice reset with each sip. It gives a dictionary definition of the variety from the region and delivers extra in detail and interest. Truly charming wine.” Mike Bennie, The Wine Front, February 2023
