One of the sentimental favourites in our Kilikanoon portfolio, our Prodigal continues to shout out the virtues and unique expression of old vine Clare Valley Grenache. An excellent all round season, 2016 was defined as a warm and temperate vintage, the Indian summer conditions perfect for allowing the late maturing vines to fully ripen whilst the cool evening temperatures promoted fruit freshness and varietal intensity. Made as a blend from two sixty four year old single vineyards from the Watervale subregion, each parcel was vinified separately, basket pressed and allowed to carefully matured in seasoned French oak hogsheads for sixteen months, before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
