TASTING NOTES FOR Poggio Landi Brunello Di Montalcino D.O.C.G. Montalcino Italy 2018

🍷 Appearance
Deep garnet ruby with a developing brick-red rim, showing the graceful evolution of this premium Brunello. Bright, concentrated and beautifully clear in the glass, displaying both maturity and vitality.

πŸ‘ƒ Aromas
Complex and intensely aromatic, revealing layers of ripe black cherry, sour cherry and wild berries intertwined with dried rose petals, violet, tobacco leaf, leather and earthy forest floor. Hints of cedar, liquorice, spice and fine oak add further depth and sophistication.

πŸ‘… Palate
Full-bodied, elegant and beautifully structured, with concentrated flavours of black cherry, plum and wild raspberry supported by savoury herbs, dark chocolate and subtle spice. Fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity provide outstanding balance, while the long maturation in oak contributes seamless complexity without overpowering the fruit.

🍈 Texture & Finish
Silky yet firmly structured, with polished tannins and exceptional length. The finish is persistent and refined, lingering with notes of dark cherry, dried herbs, cedar, earthy spice and classic Sangiovese minerality.

πŸ‡ Overall Style
A classic Brunello di Montalcino that captures the elegance and longevity of Tuscany’s flagship wine. Powerful yet refined, it combines vibrant fruit, savoury complexity and superb structure, making it enjoyable now after decanting while also rewarding further cellaring over the next decade.

🍽️ Food Pairing
Perfect with slow-braised beef, osso buco, grilled T-bone steak, roast lamb, wild mushroom risotto, game dishes, aged Pecorino or Parmigiano Reggiano, and rich tomato-based Italian cuisine.

⭐ BBD Verdict
An outstanding expression of Brunello from an excellent vintage. Rich, complex and impeccably balanced, this is a beautifully crafted Sangiovese that delivers all the depth, elegance and age-worthy character expected from one of Italy’s greatest wine regions.
