TASTING NOTES FOR Kilikanoon Kelly’s Grenache 2013
🍷 Appearance
Bright ruby to deep crimson with vibrant red hues. Elegant and luminous, reflecting both concentration and finesse.
👃 Aromas
Perfumed and complex, showing lifted red cherry, raspberry and blood plum. Layers of liquorice, dried herbs, cocoa and subtle earthy notes add depth, with a gentle savoury edge.
👅 Palate
Medium to full-bodied and beautifully poised. Juicy red and dark berry fruits—cherry, raspberry and plum—flow across the palate, supported by savoury spice, chocolate and a fine mineral thread. Rich yet controlled with excellent balance.
🍈 Texture & Finish
Silky and supple with fine, grainy tannins providing structure. The finish is long and savoury, with lingering red fruits, spice and a subtle earthy complexity.
🍇 Overall Style
A refined Clare Valley Grenache from old vines—fragrant, savoury and elegantly structured. Combines purity of fruit with complexity and a distinctly earthy, old-world feel.
🍽️ Food Pairing
Perfect with roast lamb, duck, game meats or Mediterranean dishes. Also excellent with charcuterie, grilled vegetables or earthy mushroom dishes.
🥂 BBD Verdict
A beautifully composed Grenache—perfumed, savoury and effortlessly drinkable.
A standout for mixed dozens when you want elegance with character.
Cheers
