This wine displays a rich nose with typical cool climate characters of black cherries and plums. This is complemented with licorice and earthy aromas with a touch of pepper to finish. “Merricks Estate was one of the first, if not the first, Mornington Peninsula producers to make a striking, cool-climate shiraz. The wine has crimson- purple colour, and is very much in the proud tradition and history Merricks Estate has with this variety – textured and silky, the black fruits and plum shot through with multi-spice and pepper notes. It’s a great bargain at this price. It’s worthy of a decade, although the tannins are sufficiently fine for the wine to please right now.” James Halliday
