A deep ruby, segueing to riffs on violet, dark cherry and iodine. The tannins are ferrous and wooly. The mid palate, sweet and reductive. The finish, a bit hot, as much due to the alcohol as the residual sugar. Yet in essence, this is a dry, meaty and powerful wine that at this price, at least, serves the drinker well.
