TASTING NOTES FOR Levrier Peritas Zinfandel Barossa Valley South Australia 2018
🍷 Appearance
Deep brick red with a dense, dark core. Richly coloured, showing both power and early development.
👃 Aromas
Intense and opulent, with dark cherry, morello cherry and ripe raspberry layered with black plum, liquorice and spice. Notes of vanilla, cedar, mocha and charred oak add complexity and depth.
👅 Palate
Full-bodied and richly flavoured, delivering a core of dark berry fruits—black cherry, plum and blackberry—supported by spice, chocolate and savoury elements. There’s real weight and concentration, balanced by underlying structure.
🍈 Texture & Finish
Silky yet powerful with firm, structured tannins giving a slightly chewy mouthfeel. The finish is long and persistent, with lingering dark fruit, spice and subtle earthy dryness.
🍇 Overall Style
A bold Barossa Zinfandel—rich, ripe and full of personality. Combines opulent fruit with oak influence and structure, delivering both immediate impact and the ability to develop further in bottle.
🍽️ Food Pairing
Perfect with BBQ meats, slow-cooked beef, ribs or smoky dishes. Also excellent with rich pasta, game meats or hard cheeses.
🥂 BBD Verdict
A big, powerful red—packed with flavour and intensity. A standout for mixed dozens when you want something bold, rich and a little different from Shiraz.
Cheers
